FIRE: Demons, Dragons & Djinns, published by Tyche Books and edited by Rhonda Parrish, was released Aug. 14 at When Words Collide in Calgary, Alberta, where it sold out. Here is a quote about it from a 5-star review: This fine set of short stories comprises a quest for purpose and knowledge of Truth weighed against manifest destiny, mitigated by companionship and tarnished by greed, that can be read in one day. My favorite was The Djinni and the Accountant. – Barbara, Goodreads Reviewer (Cover artist: Ashley Walters) My story,…

I’ve been really excited about this upcoming anthology, and now I can finally share the gorgeous cover: (Cover artist: Ashley Walters) FIRE: Demons, Dragons & Djinns, published by Tyche Books, will be released Aug. 14. Here are the Amazon and Kobo preorder links. My story, “The Djinni and the Accountant”, tells the story of a djinni trying to sort out his import taxes on everything people have wished into being. Beyond this absurd premise, it’s about the unexpected things we have to offer each other. I had the great…

I’m excited to reveal the cover for the next instalment of Rhonda Parrish’s Alphabet Anthologies, E is for Evil, which contains my story, “G”. Without further ado: It’s a play on the old adage “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,” perhaps slightly misleading because of how much evil is contained in the anthology’s 26 alphabetized stories. For the cover Rhonda sought a non-denominational representation of evil, and I think she and Jonathan C. Parrish (cover artist) nailed it. It’s a gripping image not immediately obvious at first glance,…

The other day I got a snazzy ARC of Mrs. Claus: Not the Fairy Tale They Say. This was as a reward for winning a small competition for suggested subtitles of the anthology (so I’m responsible for the “Not the Fairy Tale They Say” part). It’s a gorgeous-looking anthology, and from the reviews it looks pretty good. I’m glad to have played a small part in it, and look forward to curling up with it sometime with a cup of lactose-free eggnog.

The latest of Rhonda Parrish’s alphabet anthologies, D is for Dinosaur, is on sale from Oct. 29 – Nov. 5, for $0.99. It includes my story, W, which features both dinosaurs AND ghosts! Could you ask for anything better for Halloween reading? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N7J28YP

In the past few months, World Weaver Press has released the next two installments in Rhonda Parrish’s Magical Menagerie anthologies: Corvidae and Scarecrow. In Corvidae, “birds are born of blood and pain, trickster ravens live up to their names, magpies take human form, blue jays battle evil forces, and choughs become prisoners of war.” In Scarecrow, “ancient enemies join together to destroy a mad mommet, a scarecrow who is a crow protects solar fields and stores long-lost family secrets, a woman falls in love with a scarecrow, and…

A quiet, wintry November morning enveloped me before I strolled into the Ramada Hotel lobby to scope out a location for setup. Eventually my girlfriend Debbie and my friend Glen LaValley joined me, Glen bringing his 10-foot tall beauty of a rock-em-sock-em balloon robot puppet. I’m not entirely sure what order those adjectives go in, but they definitely all belong there. I slipped right into my black morph suit, adopting the form of the robot’s shadow, and stood as Glen worked his magic to strap the lumbering form…
